Virtual Ecology

No crops are grown in the metaverse,
no textiles woven, no stones knapped
nor hands stained deep red from
iron strained in bog-cloth,
from clay baking in shallow kilns.

No creatures leap and play in meadows –
no thing here is made without design,
and we see,
how hollow would be creation
if we were its creators.

Thought On Style

The ancient rimes have their charms:
O, sights of goshawks on the gyre!
O, rhythms like the rolling lyre!
but the modern, the hard and reef-tinged tones
bleeding down the page like
watercolors, like
streetlights patterning a rain-slick road
do also carve
faces from the starlight.
