There’s no worth anywhere
only value, only thrift,
our coats disintegrate in rain and
our socks are walked clean through;
and in museums we see earth-ware,
gleaming swords from the Crusade,
thousand-year cupboards,
trousers from the Celts,
and we cannot comprehend
our possessions outlasting us for
even a day,
we are living disposably and
shocked when we are disposed.
