Today I learned a new word that no-one has said before,
and before the day was over, I heard it twice more.
It was the word that makes gazanias curl up in a storm,
and keeps the bumbling bees together in their swarm;
the word that tells the ivy which buildings must be climbed,
and keeps the geese honking on their way to warmer clime;
A word for feelings tender, for every mercy mild,
I tell it to you, giddy, yet as bashful as a child,
The word is what I think when I look into your eyes,
And the word is all I feel when the word is your reply.
